Confirmation is the sacrament of initiation that completes the work begun at baptism. It makes a person a soldier for Christ and equips them with the fullness of the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit. The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit are: 1. Wisdom 2. Understanding 3. Counsel 4. Fortitude 5. Knowledge 6. Piety 7. Fear of the Lord
Form The form of the sacrament is the words said by the minister as the sacrament is being performed. In Confirmation, the form is, "Be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit."
Matter The matter is the elements required for the sacrament. The matter of Confirmation is the Holy Chrism (a perfumed oil), and the laying on of hands by the minister.
Minister The minister is the person who actually performs the sacrament. The minister of Confirmation is ordinarily a bishop. The extraordinary minister is a priest with the permission of a bishop.
Rite The minister saying, "Be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit," along with the laying on of hands by the minister, anointing the recipient's forehead with Holy Chrism, and the sponsor resting their hand on the shoulder of the recipient.
My Sponsor I chose my Aunt Sofia(picture on the left) to be my Confirmation Sponsor. The reasoning to this is because she is my godmother and she is a great example of a good Catholic. She is strong in her faith and I know she is always supporting me through everything I do.
My Confirmation Name My Confirmation name is Sofia. I chose this because my sponsor and godmother has the name Sofia.
